Who is Lasswell?
In Final Fantasy Resonance, Lasswell is the deputy commander of Grandshelt's airship squadron and Rain's closest companion. Orphaned as a child, he was taken in and raised by Rain's family, which makes the two adoptive brothers rather than blood kin. Where Rain is impulsive and warm, Lasswell is composed and disciplined — a swordsman whose measured calm balances the protagonist's headlong energy and keeps the pair effective under pressure.
He stands beside Rain from the very first assignment to the Earth Shrine and remains a core member of the party as the journey to protect the world's Crystals widens. His restraint is not coldness: the loyalty he shows Rain, forged by growing up in the same household, is one of the relationships Final Fantasy Resonance treats as load-bearing rather than decorative.
Role in the story
As Rain's deputy, Lasswell is present for every major early beat of Final Fantasy Resonance: the investigation of the weakened Earth Shrine barrier, the confrontation with Veritas of the Dark, and the meeting with Fina after the Earth Crystal is destroyed. He is the steadying voice when the mission spirals from a routine patrol into a fight for the elemental Crystals of Lapis.
His bond with Rain — two boys raised as brothers under one roof — is a thread the plot returns to as the stakes climb. Because the game rebuilds the opening arc of Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Lasswell's disciplined swordsmanship and his history with Rain are established early and carried through the party's pursuit of Veritas across the world.
Lasswell in battle and the Vision system
On the field Lasswell is a dependable front-line swordsman, the reliable partner to Rain's more reckless charge. Like every character in Final Fantasy Resonance he takes on new dimensions through the Vision equipped to him — a crystallized hero from the wider Final Fantasy series that grants its stats, abilities and magic, earned through the story and side content rather than pulled from a gacha.
Raising affinity with a Vision unlocks more of its skills, and abilities Lasswell learns can carry onto his other Visions within a shared cost limit, so his disciplined kit can be tuned toward whatever a fight demands. That flexibility plugs straight into the battle loop: break an enemy by draining its stagger gauge, then let a sweeping stagger trigger a Resonance, the equipped Vision's cinematic finisher.
