October 22, 2026 — Launch (upcoming)

An airship soars over a lush archipelago of green islands and blue sea on the world map.

Final Fantasy Resonance is scheduled to release worldwide on October 22, 2026 across Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store). The Steam version arrives October 23 in some Asian regions.

Pre-orders and the Digital Deluxe and Collector's Editions are available ahead of launch, each with their own bonuses.

June 2026 — Characters, systems and editions detailed

Following the reveal, Square Enix rolled out detailed information on the cast and combat: the main party of Rain, Lasswell and Fina; legendary heroes as Visions including Warrior of Light, Terra, Cloud, Shantotto and Y'shtola; and the stagger-based battle system with its turn-order timeline, sweeping stagger and Resonance finishers.

The three editions — Standard ($49.99), Digital Deluxe ($59.99) and the Collector's Edition ($209.99) — were confirmed alongside pre-order bonus packs.

June 9, 2026 — Final Fantasy Resonance revealed

Final Fantasy Resonance was announced during a Nintendo Direct as the first HD-2D game in the Final Fantasy series. The announcement trailer introduced the world of Lapis, the Kingdom of Grandshelt and the tagline "Hope resonates within the crystals."

Square Enix confirmed the game is a ground-up rebuild of the first story arc of the mobile RPG Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, reworked into a full single-purchase console RPG with no gacha.
